Dairy farming has taken on a different dimension in recent years. The liberalisation of European milk production has led to growth in many dairy farms. The enterprising nature of our young dairy farmers, the rise in the average age of the "older generation" and the need to spread fixed costs are the main reasons behind the constant growth process of European dairy farming today.
EUROPE AND THE US
ACS's consultancy activities are focused mainly on dairy farming. CEO Filip Jamart has a rich history in dairy farming, particularly in terms of technical and economic management. He learned the tricks of the trade in both Europe and the US. In Europe, he worked at well-known Belgian dairy farming consulting agency LIBA, with which a close collaboration is still maintained to this day. In the US he managed 2 large-scale dairy farms and to date, together with his then herdsmen Ionel Stancu, Art Venema, Koen Linthorst and Goasse Dykstra, is listed as the first team in American history to have a milk quality score below 100,000 SCC for farms over 1,500 cows. And this for no less than 3 consecutive years for which they were awarded the DFA milk quality award. The passion for larger-scale milking never left the team, nor the passion they passed on to many young Belgian and Dutch dairy farmers when they did their internship in the USA as young school-leavers. Ionel Stancu and Art Venema are managers in the USA today, Koen Linthorst and Goasse Dykstra are two successful CEOs in Dutch dairy farming.
Guiding young dairy farmers with a vision on an approach that suits larger herds of cows is Filip's expertise. And he is assisted at ACS by employees who have earned their spurs in the field. Communication, respect for social corporate social responsibility and constant eagerness to learn remain key in this. Filip's LIBA background ensures balance between passion and economy.
